We all know that omega 3 fatty acids are great for the mind and body, but did you know they’re also great for your eyes? That’s right! Omega 3 fatty acids, along with other essential fatty acids, provide anti-inflammation and anti-oxidation to protect from dry eyes, glaucoma and retinal issues.1
However, finding the right kind of omega 3 supplement is key. CorneaCare’s Triple Strength Omega 3 supplement takes the guesswork out so you can focus on other things. Our omega 3 supplement provides re-esterified triglycerides with EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) in a 2:1 ratio. Moreover, we use best-in-class purification and formulation, so there is no fishy smell or taste. Our Omega 3 supplement is triple the strength with only half the dose to reduce inflammation and oxidation and promote visual, mental and physical health.
Healthy eating and consuming dietary vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids can provide anti-oxidation and anti-inflammation, which is necessary to repair and recover. However, it can be difficult to get all the essentials from diet alone, given our busy schedules. Dietary supplements can help fill in the gaps from your diet and provide everything you need to enjoy healthy vision, a strong body and a fit mind.
So what food sources are the best for eye health and overall nutrition?2 Green vegetables and leafy greens can provide an excellent source of vitamins and antioxidants. Whole grains, nuts and legumes are loaded with multivitamins and minerals. Citrus fruits can be an excellent source of vitamin C, while orange veggies are rich in vitamins and carotenoids. Finally, fatty fish such as sardines, mackerel, anchovies, trout, cod and salmon are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids. It’s generally best to avoid fish with high levels of mercury such as swordfish, shark, king mackerel, marlin, tilefish, albacore, ahi tuna, and bigeye tuna. Excessive fish consumption should be avoided in pregnant and breastfeeding women, and in young children. Some vegetarian options for fatty acids include flaxseed oil, canola oil, chia seeds, soybean and algal oil.
We know it’s daunting to consume all the necessary nutrients from diet alone. Nutritional supplements can play an important role in enhancing your diet so you give your body everything it needs. This is precisely why we made our Triple Strength Omega 3 Supplement to address the nutritional needs of your eyes, mind and body without overdoing it.
Not all omega 3 fish oil supplements are created equal! When choosing an omega 3, you should consider four factors:
Our Triple Strength Omega 3 supplement meets these four quality requirements and more! Our fish oil concentrate has a patented three-component antioxidant system, so that it is toxin-free, odorless, minimizes aftertaste and reflux, and is extremely stable. Not to mention that it’s three times the strength, so we can pack more omega 3s into smaller softgel capsules!
Essential fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids that play important roles in the body’s nervous, immune and reproductive systems, and they can help protect the skin and eyes. Unlike other types of fat, essential fatty acids aren’t made by or stored in the body. They need to be eaten regularly, usually in the form of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are found in foods like nuts, seeds, fish, eggs and poultry, and in fish oil supplements.
Omega 3 fatty acids are either short chain or long chain essential fatty acids. The short chains include alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which can be found in flaxseed oil. The long chain fatty acids include eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which are present in fish (anchovies, salmon, trout and sardines) and fish oil, or in algal oil (derived from algae as a vegan option).3
It’s important to note that the average diet consists mostly of omega 6 fatty acids (also essential, and found in vegetable oil). We typically consume 15 times more omega 6s compared to omega 3s, which may actually cause inflammation in the body. It’s important to balance your omega 6s with omega 3s, and omega 3 supplementation can help with this.
CorneaCare’s Triple Strength Omega 3 supplement provides a high omega 3 dose, almost 2000mg, with an approximate 2:1 EPA to DHA ratio, which is what you want!

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is an important omega 3 fatty acid. Our body cannot produce EPA, so it must be obtained from food or supplements. EPA is found in marine fish, such as salmon, as well as various plant foods, including flaxseeds, walnuts and chia seeds. EPA has been shown to have many health benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke, reducing inflammation, preventing prostate cancer and treating mental illness.
Most individuals don’t get enough EPA from their diet, which is why omega 3 fatty acid supplementation can be helpful.
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega 3 fatty acid that is found mainly in fish and seafood. Like EPA, your body cannot make it and therefore you must consume it. It’s important for the development of the brain and nervous system, as well as for eye, skin and hair health. DHA is also crucial for regulating blood sugar levels and preventing heart disease.
Just like EPA, most individuals don’t consume enough DHA in their diet, and thus a good omega 3 supplement can go a long way.
Omega 3 fatty acids have several benefits and are essential to our health. Many healthcare providers, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and American Heart Association recognize the importance of omega 3 fatty acids.4,5
The importance of omega 3 fatty acids on eye health and wellness cannot be overstated. Omega 3 fatty acids play a vital role in anti-inflammation, which helps prevent and treat dry eye disease and reduce symptoms of dry eye. Omega 3 fats also act as antioxidants and thus decrease cataract progression, and reduce the risk for retinal issues such as macular degeneration. Omega 3s may also help reduce eye pressure and protect the optic nerve, thereby reducing the risk for glaucoma.6
Omega 3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of heart disease, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, blood clotting, coronary heart disease and specifically heart attacks. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of mortality in adults, and therefore improving heart health should be a priority. Omega 3 fats play an important role in regulating your body’s triglyceride and cholesterol levels, both of which contribute to most heart diseases.7
Omega 3 fatty acids may also improve your nervous system and protect against dementia, thereby leading to a lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Moreover, they also strengthen brain function, and lead to decreased symptoms from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and bipolar disorder, and improved mood, alertness, focus and sleep. Other benefits include a stronger immune system, decreased rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, stronger bones and joints, and lowered risk of prostate cancer.8
The role of any supplement, is to “supplement” and not replace your diet. In order to get the best benefits of our Triple Strength Omega 3, it is important to also consume a well-balanced diet, and avoid certain foods that may be harmful for the body. The role of our supplement is to bridge certain gaps in your diet without overdoing it.
It is best to use our Triple Strength Omega 3 two times a day to maximize absorption in the body. Your gut has a limit on how many micronutrients it can absorb at a given time, and therefore spacing out the dosing to morning and evening allows for minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
Consuming CorneaCare‘s Triple Strength Omega 3 after food may promote better absorption of micronutrients that you naturally consume. Moreover, omega 3 fats work synergistically with vitamin E to promote antioxidation, and with calcium to protect against osteoporosis. Consuming our Eye Vitamins & Minerals after a meal will assure you get the most benefit from the supplement and from your diet!
